Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart – Week 2020/41–514

Mag ik deze week weer een SpaceX-weekje noemen? Ze zorgden voor de enige lancering deze week (na herhaaldelijk uitstel). Ze blijven contracten afsluiten voor lanceringen en in Rusland gaan ze de Falcon 9 “kopiëren”. Starlink krijgt nu al goeie punten en het Amerikaanse ministerie van Defensie bestelt satellieten bij SpaceX. En men onderzoekt een alternatief gebruik van Starship. Al zorgen recente probleempjes met de Merlin-motor voor uitstel van Crew 1, de eerste operationale Crew Dragon vlucht naar het ruimtestation.

Dat ruimtestation kende de komst van de bevoorradingscapsule Cygnus en maakt zich klaar voor de komst van een nieuwe stambemanning. Boeing astronaut Ferguson trekt zich ondertussen uit persoonlijke overwegingen terug uit de bemanning voor de eerste bemande Starliner-vlucht.
