Het jaar 2022 wordt een belangrijk jaar voor de ruimtevaart. Met de eerste orbitale lancering van een Starship, het debuut van het Space Launch System en laat ons hopen nog enkele andere nieuwe raketten. Maar 2022 is vooral het jaar van de James Webb Space Telescope. Na een geslaagde lancering op Kerstdag vorig jaar begon men de omgekeerde origami, het weer open plooien van de telescoop. En wat misschien niemand voor mogelijk had gehouden, het hele proces verliep zonder problemen. Maar we zijn er nog niet. De telescoop moet nog afgesteld worden, JWST is nog niet op zijn bestemming en de wetenschappers hebben nog heel wat tijd nodig om de instrumenten te kalibreren.
