Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart – Week 2026/02–785

De jaarwisseling is niet onopgemerkt voorbij gegaan in het ruimtevaartwereldje. Er waren de voorbije twee weken dan wel weinig lanceringen maar het nieuwe jaar begon met twee belangrijke gebeurtenissen. Vooreerst was er het plotse uitstel van twee Amerikaanse ruimtewandelingen omwille van een “medical emergency” aan boord van het ruimtestations. Veel meer weten we eigenlijk niet, alleen dat NASA ondertussen beslist heeft om de Crew-11-bemanning vervroegd naar huis te sturen. En ten tweede, de kansen op de lancering van Artemis II begin februari lijken te stijgen nu NASA heeft laten weten de SLS-raket met de Orion-capsule naar het lanceerplatform te rijden - wellicht op 17 januari. Dat en – ook dit jaar – nog veel meer in het Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart van deze week..


En – uiteraard – de beste wensen voor het nieuwe jaar. Dat het een fijn nieuw jaar mag worden.

Bij de foto: Astronaut Mike Fincke (Crew 11/ Expedition 74) poseert hier samen met een ruimtepak in de Quest-module. De helm zelf is beschermd om krasjes en stof te vermijden. Fincke zou normaal gezien samen met Zena Cardman op 8 januari de 94ste Amerikaanse ISS-ruimtewandeling beginnen. Maar een dag eerder werd deze en de volgende ruimtewandeling uitgesteld omwille van een “medical emergency”. De bemanning van Crew 11 verlaat daarom iets eerder dan voorzien het ruimtestation.
