Curiosity staat veilig en wel op Mars. De eerste beelden zijn binnen, de checkout is nog bezig en weldra begint het autootje te rijden. Met al wat er de voorbije week aan Curiosity-artikels is verschenen hadden we wellicht enkele NUDR's kunnen vullen. Wat we niet gaan doen. We verwijzen naar de landing-pagina die we eerder deze week hebben samengesteld en up to date hebben gehouden. Wat dan wel in deze Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart ? Wel, India gaat naar Mars en China naar de Maan. In Amerika liep een test met een prototype van een Maanlander falikant af. De Russen zitten ook nog steeds in de problemen, nu een Proton/Briz-M er niet in slaagde twee satellieten in hun baan af te leveren. De nieuwste Meteosat stuurde zijn eerste foto door. Verder nog wat nieuwtjes uit Iran en uit België. En we sluiten af met een reclamefilmpje. Met - oh verrassing - Mars als thema.

Weer mislukte Russische lancering.
Het succes van Curiosity staat natuurlijk in schril contrast met het falen van de Russische Phobos-Grunt vorig jaar.
Tot overmaat van ramp mislukte uitgerekend net nu ook nog de lancering van twee satellieten met een Proton-raket.
Niet zozeer de raket dan wel de Briz-M upper stage was het probleem.
