Zes lanceringen waren er de twee voorbije weken, waaronder drie lanceringen van navigatiesatellieten, uit China, Amerika en Rusland. Afgelopen nacht vertrok ook een raket met een satellietje vanuit Noord-Korea. De lancering werd druk becommentarieerd en wellicht alleen in Noord-Korea zelf positief onthaald.

De grote krachtige Amerikaanse SLS-raket gaat bij zijn eerste lancering 13 Cubesats lanceren (naast uiteraard een onbemande Orion-capsule). De eerste contracten voor de Asteroid Redirect Mission werden ook uitgedeeld.

Aan boord van het ISS was er ook weer heel wat nieuws te rapen. Uitschieter was ongetwijfeld een Russische ruimtewandeling (zie bijgevoegde foto).

Belgisch ruimtevaartnieuws is er ook, met Ariane 6, Redu en Proba V.

SpaceX werkt ondertussen verder aan een eerste bemande lancering. Deze keer werden de parachutes nog eens getest. Ondertussen rijzen er vragen over eventuele Falcon 9- productieproblemen.

Aangezien er vorige week geen Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart was, is er heel wat nieuws uit de (inter)planetaire ruimte. Met o.a. Rosetta en Philae, Dawn bij Ceres, 12 jaar Opportunity, de 50ste verjaardag van Luna 9 en Juno die dichter en dichter bij Jupiter komt.

Een andere verjaardag die eind januari herdacht werd, was het drama met Challenger. Het is alweer 30 jaar geleden dat dit ruimteveer kort na de lancering ontplofte waarbij de zevenkoppige bemanning om het leven kwam.

Afronden doen we met een vraag van ESA om te helpen bij het trainen van ruimtevaarders.
