De geslaagde lancering van ExoMars 2016 was wellicht hét hoogtepunt van deze week. En ongetwijfeld een hele opluchting voor alle betrokkenen. Pech was er voor een nieuwe Russische remote sensing satelliet toen één van de zonnepanelen niet open plooide. De lancering van een nieuwe bemanning voor het ISS verliep dan weer zonder problemen. En de bemanning kon enkele uren later met succes zich aan het ruimtestation vastkoppelen. We blikken ook al even vooruit naar de op stapel staande Amerikaanse bevoorradingsvluchten naar het ISS.

Na wat nieuwtjes over ruimtetoerisme, SpaxeX en de Falcon Heavy, Commercial Crew/Cargo blikken we terug naar de succesvolle test van een gewezen Space Shuttle motor voor het SLS-programma. Uitstel is er dan weer voor de Asteroid Redirect Mission (en hopen maar dat er van uitstel geen afstel komt).

Na nog wat meer SLS en Orion-nieuws is er nog eens een blok over de Russische RD-180. De Amerikanen gaan ondertussen werken aan een vervangende motor.

Er is in zekere zin weinig (inter)planetair nieuws. Alleen Pluto (met een reeks van artikels met eerste bevindingen) en Ceres (met o.a. de beruchte witte vlekken) komen echt aan bod.

Ondertussen werd de secundaire spiegel van de James Webb Space Telescope geïnstalleerd.
