Het worden belangrijke ruimtevaartdagen. Vandaag splitst de Europese ExoMars in twee delen. Enerzijds het TGO-omlooptuig, anders de lander Schiaparelli. Deze laatste moet woensdag landen. Vannacht is ook belangrijk voor de Chinese ruimtevaart. Want dan wordt de elfde Shenzhou gelanceerd met een bemanning die een maand aan boord van Tiangong 2 gaat wonen. En maandag lanceert de vernieuwde Antares de Cygnus-bevoorradingscapsule naar het ISS. Na twee jaar onderbreking is deze Return To Flight een heel belangrijk gebeuren voor Orbital ATK. En op woensdag vertrekt een nieuwe Soyuz (met bemanning) naar datzelfde ruimtestation. De lancering werd een tijdje uitgesteld omwille van technische problemen.

Het presidentschap van Obama loopt ten einde. Veel belang heeft het niet meer, maar hij liet weten dat de Amerikanen naar Mars moeten. Daarbij zal de belangrijkste rol misschien niet door de NASA maar door andere gespeeld worden. Musk liet zijn plannen al weten, en Boeing wil ook naar Mars (zij het via de Maan). En wat met het ISS ? Dat blijft wellicht tot 2024 in de ruimte. Het wordt stilaan tijd om na te gaan in hoeverre een commercieel ruimtestation mogelijk is ? Onder andere Bigelow is geïnteresseerd. Met het Commercial Crew programma gaat het minder. Het verbaasde wellicht niemand dat de eerste lanceringen uitgesteld zijn tot in 2018 (als het al geen 2019 gaat  worden).

Wat het (inter)planetaire nieuws betreft, is er niet zoveel te vertellen. Alleen dat Juno wat problemen kent.
