Met het einde van Cassini wordt het ook weer duidelijk dat er weinig of geen sondes meer zijn voorbij Jupiter. Er zijn de 40 jaar oude Voyagers alsook New Horizons die op weg is naar een KBO begin 2019. Mogelijk krijgt de sonde nog een volgend doelwit.

Twee lanceringen waren er deze week, beide vanuit Rusland. Zo werd er o.a. een nieuwe bemanning gelanceerd naar het International Space Station. In de loop van deze zondag komt de onbemande Dragon-capsule terug naar de Aarde. En in China doen ze rustig verder met koppelings- en tanktesten tussen Tianzhou 1 en Tiangong 2.

Verder nieuws van Arianespace, SLS en Orion, Blue Origin, Dream Chaser en Virgin Orbit. Naast raketnieuws ook heel wat berichten over allerlei satellietconstellaties, de Belgische firma Newtec en twee “nieuwigheden” in de ruimtevaart, zijnde “Satellite Servicing” en “On Orbit Assembly”.

Deze NUDR kent een laatste overzicht van Irma-filmpjes. De schade aan het Kennedy Space Center lijkt mee te vallen, ook al omdat ze de eigenlijke storm net gemist hebben. In het overige (inter)planetaire nieuws is er uiteraard weer aandacht voor Mars.
