Deze week 4 lanceringen, waarvan 2 met een kleine raket. Iets dat we in de toekomst vaker gaan zien ? Afgelopen week ook weer heel wat testwerk, zowel voor SLS  als Virgin Orbit. En we blikken ook terug op enkele andere lanceringen, waaronder uiteraard het Zuma-raadsel.

Deze week is er ook de nodige aandacht voor het ISS, met o.a. een astronaute die de ruimte niet in mag en een voorbeschouwing bij twee ruimtewandelingen, de lesen van Christa McAuliffe en tien jaar Columbus. O ja, en wellicht mogen we nog wat langer wachten op de vluchten van Commercial Crew.

Nieuwtjes rond 50 jaar Apollo, maar ook over de volgende vluchten naar de Maan en Mars met het Kilopower-project. In het (inter)planetaire nieuws zijn er geen echte uitschieters te melden al vind je er – net als bij 50 jaar Apollo – een interessant kickstarter-project.

De reacties van het lichaam op leven in de ruimte worden steeds in meer detail onderzocht. En verder nog artikels over ruimtepakken, ruimteafval en een nieuw satellite servicing contract.

Tweede lancering voor Rocketlab.
Het nieuwe jaar startte alweer met uitstel voor de Electron-lancering. Deze keer was het de schuld van een bootje.

Problemen voor AngoSat 1.
Deze communicatiesatelliet werd voor Angola door de Russen gebouwd. Kort na de lancering eind vorig jaar bleek de satelliet verloren te zijn, maar kon gelukkig nog geactiveerd worden. Afgelopen week doken er nieuwe problemen op.

ISS – Eerste Afro-Amerikaanse ISS-bewoonster mag de ruimte niet in. Voorlopig.
Het gebeurt niet vaak dat een astronaut(e) verwijderd wordt uit een bemanning. Het gebeurde deze week met Jeanette Epps. Waarom, dat wou NASA niet vertellen. Normaal was ze de eerste Aftro-Amerikaanse bewoonster van het ISS geworden.

ISS – De ruimtelessen van Christa McAuliffe.
Voor velen zal 28 januari 1986 in het geheugen gegrift blijven. Toen ontplofte het ruimteveer Challenger kort na vertrek. De vlucht had veel aandacht getrokken omdat één van de bemanningsleden de lerares Christa McAuliffe was. De lessen die ze toen zou geven, worden nu opgepikt in kader van het Year Of Education On Station.
