Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart – Week 2018/07 – 379

Het International Space Station stond deze week in het middelpunt van de belangstelling. Niet alleen omwille van een Progress-lancering. Niet alleen omwille van een ruimtewandeling. Maar vooral omdat onder het presidentschap van Trump men in 2025 datzelfde ruimtestation opzij wil schuiven om werk te maken van een Lunar Outpost (het vroegere Deep Space Gateway). Het budgetvoorstel voor NASA voor FY2019 komt dan ook uitgebreid aan bod.

Naast nog een Chinese lancering was er het uitstel voor de lift-off van een Falcon 9. Deze laatste vlucht kreeg ook al de nodige aandacht, en dat vooral omwille van de secundaire payload. Twee satellietjes moeten de technologie uittesten voor het Starlink-project van SpaceX, een netwerk van duizenden satellietjes.
