De drie astronauten aan boord van het ISS gaan drukke tijden tegemoet. De Japanse Kounotori is nog maar net vertrokken (met trouwens een geslaagd experiment met een eerste Japanse ISS-terugkeercapsule), of twee nieuwe bevoorradingsschepen zijn onderweg: een Russische Progress (met dus een geslaagde Soyuz-FG-lancering) en een Amerikaanse Cygnus. Dat in afwachting van de volgende bemanning op 3 december.

In Europa had afgelopen week Phi-week door, over de toekomst van aardobservatie en remotesensing. Met Copernicus komt er héél veel informatie (gratis) ter beschikking. Big data, artificial intelligence en citizen science waren dan ook veel gehoorde termen.
