Voorlopig krijgen de huidige aardse conflicten nog (steeds) geen uitbreiding tot in het ruimtestation. Afgelopen week vertrok een Russische Progress en een Amerikaanse Cygnus – beide bevoorradingsschepen – naar het ISS. Daarenboven werd Cygnus gelanceerd met de Antares, een Amerikaanse raket met  een Russisch/Oekraïense eerste trap. Het wordt uitkijken naar de lancering van Crew 5 in september van dit jaar, waar normaal gezien voor het eerst een Russische kosmonaute deel gaat uitmaken van de bemanning.

Ondertussen lijkt de eerste orbitale lancering van zowel SLS als Starship extra uitstel op te lopen, zij het om verschillende redenen. En uiteraard was er deze week de Europese Space Summit. Ondanks allerlei negatieve adviesen lijkt ESA toch verder te gaan met een eigen satellietconstellatie. En er wordt onderzocht of Europa een eigen bemande capsule moet ontwikkelen.

En op het einde van deze NUDR is er – net zoals de vorige weken – een Belgisch ruimtevaarthoofdstuk.
