PWSA – Allerlei nieuws.
PWSA is een programma van de Amerikaanse militairen en staat voor Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, opgebouwd uit verschillende toepassingen en generaties. Toepassingen kregen het label “layers” mee. Zo is er een “transport layer”, opgebouwd uit communicatiesatellieten in lage aardbaan. Een tweede belangrijke is de “tracking layer”, eveneens satellieten in een lage aardbaan met als taak het opsporen van raketten die richting US gelanceerd worden zodat de aanval kan onderschept worden. Elke laag is opgebouwd uit tientallen tot honderden kleinere satellieten in een lage aardbaan, wat moet toelaten om regelmatig verbeterde satellieten (nieuwe generaties) te lanceren zodanig verbeterde en nieuwe technologieën sneller in gebruik genomen kunnen worden.
