Nieuws Uit De Ruimtevaart – Week 2018/08 – 380

Er was maar één lancering deze week, maar ze had wel een Belgisch tintje. Musk lanceerde voor zijn Starlink-project twee prototypes en die kregen de naam Tintin A en B mee. Verder was de Falcon-neuskegel die het nieuws haalde, met de deels mislukte redding van zo’n neuskegel, en met een uitgestelde lancering omwille van een neuskegel. En één van de Falcon Heavy boosters lag deze week tentoon in het bezoekerscentrum van het Kennedy Space Center. 

Bigelow pikt ondertussen in op het mogelijk stopzetten van het ISS waarbij zijn opblaasbare modules voor een (goedkoper) alternatief kunnen zorgen. Dat stopzetten in 2025 kende ook deze week trouwens heel wat reacties

En er was voor SLS weer wat minder leuk nieuws, waarbij vooral de scheve lanceertoren in de belangstelling kwam.

Verder heel wat nieuws over allerhande simulaties waarbij de zesde HI-SEAS moest afgebroken worden door een medisch (nood)geval.

In het (inter)planetaire nieuws is het stilaan uitkijken naar de lancering van een nieuwe Marssonde, de InSight.


SPACEX – Musk lanceert twee Kuifjes-satellieten.
De lancering werd eerst nog een dag uitgesteld omwille van de weersomstandigheden.

Bij deze lancering zou een nieuw systeem getest worden om de neuskegel na gebruik op te vangen.
